| 2010-11-21Removal of SALVI bottom section After successful removal of almost 90% of motor tanker SALVI during last year’s dry season, we were compelled to suspend the removal of the bottom section of the wreck due to inclement weather and rough seas during 2010 rainy season. As soon as weather and sea permitted all necessary equipment was mobilized to the beach and has been working successfully since. with the help of our newly designed 300 ton hydraulic power puller which was locally manufactured in Nigeria, we were able to remove the entire remains of the wreck from the Lekki beach. After suffering fromserious erosion while the wreck was submerged in the surf zone of the beach, the shore has now started to recover its former shape. « back |
